Abandoned project

Sketches for a comic we were thinking of making with Brandon Seifert. It was a cool concept but we could never find time for it in the schedule and eventually it was abandoned. Oh well...
We'll do something else in the future.

Daughters of Oz

Artwork for another pitch that did not came to be. It was a "daughters of Oz" type of thing and I was never 100% sure how "sexy" were they supposed to be. I started from cute cartoon kids and each bunch of sketches I sent got the same reply: "draw them sexier". We reached a happy compromise but the project got delayed a couple of times and then disappeared. 

 

 

Gene Trash

A few years back Scott Lobdell and I pitched this book, GENE TRASH, to Image. It was about a bunch of trailer park kids who gain superpowers. 

Well, as you can guess it never happened but I like some of the art from the pitch so here it is.

(And I have a new superhero book debuting from Image in 2015 so there's that! ;) )

The team as best as I can remember (left to right):

-Basically Kelly Bundy as Supergirl

-The team leader. Some kind of extreme cold powers

-hm... I think this lady was to be their arch villain?

-genderfluid character with floating (?) powers

-"The ferret", wild guy

-"The Flying F" (for "fist"). Exploading hands

Martian Manhunter

Old sketch from a time when -for five minutes- Scott Lobdell and me were going to pitch a space Kung Fu take on Martian Manhunter.
(If I recall correctly I had based him on Peter Mensah.)

Barbarians In Love

Another one of my comics that never came to be. This one was to be my followup to Zuda after Melody but the imprint closed and I never did anything with the concept after that.

The series, called Barbarians In Love, would have been a soap opera set in a Conan-esque setting. Romance and violence, broken hearts and severed heads... that kind of thing. (Some of the themes found their way into my following graphic novel, Falling For Lionheart).

From time to time I think I might revive this...(At some point I was talking with Jed Dougherty about him drawing it and me writting it. How awesome would THAT have been?!)
Oh, well... who knows what may happen in the future?

A different Doom Patrol

 A couple of years back (pre "new 52") Scott Lobdell and myself worked on a pitch for a brand new Doom Patrol. Well, it didn't happen so I thought I'd share some of the artwork.

The team would deal with secret "end-of-the-world" situations (because "DOOM patrol"). They'd routinely save the Earth but would receive no apperiation nor respect since no one would know about it.
They'd be based in Las Vegas and would be led by Changeling (with the help of Robotman who has been reduced to toy size and is worn around his teammate's neck).

Joing them is Sprout, aka Tefe Holland, the Swamp Thing's daughter. (Mind you, that's before the Vertigo Universe had rejoined DCU).

Platinum from Metal Men, trying to be her own woman. She would adopt the team's unofficial colors, red and white.

Bizzaro whould also join the DP but now that he's a superhero he'd have a superhero identity. "THIS AM A JOB FOR CLARK KENT!"

Zatarra would form a strong bromance with Changeling and he'd the driving force in this team's formation.

And finally a time dissplaced Madame.44 (Yeah I had to google her too). She has no powers whatsoever but she'd earn her place in the team.

The Hollows

A year ago I did these test pages for a comic adaptation of Amanda Hocking's Hollowland books named The Hollows.

The publisher, Dynamite, went with another artist and gave me a Vampirella annual instead. The book came out now so it's ok to share these with you.
